This report is for Sunday, November 1, 2020 through Saturday, November 7, 2020. 39 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=62360 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance. 2 in the Riviera and 1 in Marble Estates. In the Marble Estates burglary, suspect entered an unlocked vehicle parked inside the garage, took property and stole a key to steal another vehicle, a 2013 Chev Malibu. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 13 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 4 vehicles were unlocked and windows smashed in 3 vehicles for entry. Items stolen included earbuds, cell phone, cash, cooler, wetsuits, pedal board, fishing reels, camera, fins, GPS, wallet, credit cards, jewelry, more cash, sunglasses, ID, insurance, registration, photos, clothes, weights, cases of water, power and hand tools, laptop, WiFi access points, more cash, martial arts garments, stereo, backpack, laptop, medication, another wallet, another backpack, another laptop, uniform, tools, generator, suitcase, toys, more tools and a purse. AUTO THEFT There were 9 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. THEFT There were 8 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance Delivered parcels were stolen from the 16800 Block of Ardath Ave and 16900 Prairie Ave. 2 incidents involving stolen catalytic converters in the 2500 Block of 237th St and the 100 Block of Camino de Las Colinas. Three swindles of the week. On November 5th, a suspect posing as an Edison employee convinced a victim to use Zelle to pay a fictitious overdue bill in the 24500 Block of Park Street. On November 4th, a suspect completed an Offer Up purchase via Venmo and received victim’s property, then reports Venmo transaction as fraudulent, reversing payment to victim/cell phone. On November 3rd, a suspect posing as an Offer Up buyer, met the victim and stole a surfboard in the 2200 Block of Crenshaw Blvd. John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
