235th Street

The City of Torrance Traffic Commission approved, on August 4, 2008, the reclassification of 235th Street from Crenshaw Blvd to Western Avenue from a "collector" roadway street to a residential street. The reclassification has a couple of primary benefits. First, speed enforcement for a local prima facie speed of 25mph will no longer require a speed survey to support it. It will be enforceable through section 22352 of the California Vehicle Code. Second, it will not require dedications from fronting properties to meet the "collector" roadway street width standards. The item is tentatively scheduled to be on the Torrance City Council agenda on August 26, 2006. John Bailey, President SETHA
