Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

This report is for Sunday, May 17th through Saturday, May 23, 2015. There were 57 incidents reported on the attached weekly crime log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 8 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 4 in North Torrance, 1 in Southwood Riviera, 1 in Hollywood Riviera, 1 north of Madrona Marsh and 1 south of Hickory Park.    AUTO BURGLARIES There were 11 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Third row seats were taken from 4 vehicles.   AUTO THEFT There were 8 vehicles stolen in Torrance including 2 in Southeast Torrance. F/A 18 EF Aircraft at Long Beach Airport (LGB)

The Long Beach Airport (LGB) announced that several U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft will be operating at LGB this week through Memorial Day Weekend. Four to six departures will take place between the morning hours of 9:00AM and 10:00AM, and a similar number of planes will touch down during the late afternoon.   The aircraft are scheduled to make their final departure from LGB on Tuesday morning, May 26.   According to the airport, the Marine Corps voluntarily suggested that they limit the number of arrivals and departures to and from LGB in consideration of nearby residents, despite their exemption from noise regulations.   This report is for Sunday, May 10, 2015 through Saturday, May 16, 2015   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance and they all were in North Torrance.  In one incident, a window was unlocked and a second floor patio door was open in another.   AUTO BURGLARY There were 9 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  Catalytic converters were stolen from 3 vehicles including 1 in Southeast Torrance on Wednesday, May 13th at 3:08 AM at 233rd and Walnut St.  A third row seat was removed in another incident.   AUTO THEFT There were 7 stolen vehicles in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. New Restrictions on Outdoor Watering

On May 5, 2015, the Torrance City Council approved activation of Level 2 water requirements due to the severity of the drought and to meet the new state regulations. The Conservation Ordinance applies to the entire City of Torrance regardless of retail water supplier. Level 2 -Water Use Requirements and Regulations Calls for up to 30 percent water use reduction No outside watering  from 8 a.m. to  6 p.m. Outdoor watering limited to two days a week for 10 minutes per area or irrigation station Fix all leaks within four days No watering 48 hours after rain event Certain restrictions on filling and refilling of pools, spas and ponds Provides for administrative rules to implement the ordinance Permanent Requirements In Effect at all Times    No excessive runoff from outdoor watering No washing of exterior surfaces No washing of vehicles with "open hose" All water features must have a re-circu

  This report is for Sunday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 9, 2015   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 8 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in Hollywood Riviera and 1 each in Hillside, North, Madrona Marsh, Hickory, Southwest Riviera and Old Torrance areas. Two homes had unlocked doors. In one incident, suspect took remote from unlocked vehicle to gain entry to garage.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 7 auto burglaries in Torrance and 4 in Southeast Torrance. 5/3 3 PM to 5/4 7:30 AM     2300 Block 232nd St  (Arlington to Pennsylvania) Entry by unknown means, purse stolen. 5/3 4 PM to 5/4 6:45 AM     2200 Block 231st St (Arlington to Pennsylvania) Vehicle unlocked. Clothes and bank card stolen. 5/3 8 PM to 5/4 11 AM        2200 Block 231st St (Arlington to Pennsylvania) Vehicle unlocked.  Flashlights, sunglasses and paperwork stolen. 5/4 12PM to 5/4 5PM          23300 Block Arlington Window smashed for entry.  Wrench sets, oxygen sensor

This report is for Sunday, April 26, 2015 through Saturday, May 2, 2015.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 4 in Torrance including 1 in Southeast Torrance.   Monday, April 27th, 4:50 PM to 5:15 PM   24000 Block Huber Avenue Suspects posed as victim’s neighbors, forced their way inside her residence, asked to purchase her vehicle and then fled with her medication.   Hollywood Riviera Friday, May 1st, 8:30 PM to 11:35PM  500 Block Via La Selva Suspect entered open bathroom window and took cash, laptop and cell phones.   North Torrance Friday, May 1st, 2:20 PM  16700 Block Crenshaw Blvd Suspect cut screen, entered open window and took TV and laptops.   Friday, May 1st, 10:47 AM 3700 Block Redondo Beach Blvd Suspects knocked on front door and when victim, who is home does not answer, one of the suspects removed a window screen before suspects were scared off.  No loss.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast To
