Weekly Crime Report, 8-18 to 8-24, 2019 and More

 This report is for Sunday, August 18, 2019 through Saturday, August 24,2019. There are 46 incidents listed in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=54091   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in West Torrance and 1 in North Torrance.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in North Torrance and 1 each in Hillside, Southwood Riviera and Madrona areas.   AUTO THEFT There were 6 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.   8 21 10:30 pm to 8 22  8:30 am  23700 Western Avenue (Trailer Park)  Stolen 91 Honda Civic   THEFT 13 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   This report is for Sunday, August 11, 2019 through Saturday, August 17, 2019. 46 incidents on the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=53844   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 in the Seaside area, 1 in Southwood Riviera and 1 in the SouthBayPoint townhouse area.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 17 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 3 in Old Torrance, 2 in the Hillside area, 2 in Delthorne, 2 in Torrance Heights, and 1 each in West, New Horizons, Hollywood Riviera, North and Crossroads.   AUTO THEFT 5 vehicles were stolen and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT 5 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Chase Bank Building Destroyed by Fire

Fire Destroys Chase Bank in Torrance After Driver Loses Control, Crashes Into Building. Information from T P D - Northbound Hawthorne Blvd. remains closed from Carson St. to Del Amo Circle and westbound lanes on Carson St. remains closed from Del Amo Circle to Hawthorne Blvd. following a traffic accident earlier this morning. Duration is approximately 6 to 8 hours. Please avoid the area.      Item 8B on the agenda for the Torrance City Council Meeting on Tuesday, August 27th at 7:00 pm is to replace the playground equipment and exercise area equipment at Sur La Brea Park in Southeast Torrance.   This report is for Sunday, July 28, 2019 through Saturday, August 3, 2019. 42 items on the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=53444   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in the Hollywood Riviera.   8-2 to 8-4 2019   5600 Block Calle De Arboles  Suspect pried open door, ransacked, no loss. 8-2 to 8-6 2019   600 Block Paseo De La Playa  Suspect used porch hide-a-key to enter residence and lived there, consuming sodas, beer and food while victims were on vacation.   The Torrance Police Department offers Vacation Security Checks to all Torrance residents.  While you are away on vacation, officers from the Torrance Police Department will periodically stop by your home to check for open doors, broken windows or any other suspicious circumstances.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 10 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   AUTO THEFT There were 5 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.   7-2

AQMD Torrance Air Quality Monitoring Project Launching in August 2019

The  Torrance Air Quality Monitoring Project , sponsored by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is officially launching this month. The Torrance Air project, sponsored by South Coast AQMD, is now monitoring a range of air pollutants across the city of Torrance. Information about local air quality will soon be available to residents online! What information will be available on the Torrance Air website? The website will soon be providing public, near-real time air quality information gathered from three community monitoring sites throughout the city of Torrance.
