Weekly Crime Report 4 14 19 through 4 20 19

  This report is for Sunday, April 14, 2019 through Saturday, April 20, 2019. 39 incidents listed in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at:  https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=50582 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in the Hollywood Riviera, 2 in Old Torrance, 2 in North Torrance and 1 in the Madrona area. In the burglary in the 3800 Block of Paseo de Las Tortugas, the garage was accessed by unknown  means and a 2018 Honda CRV was stolen.  In one of the Old Torrance burglaries, a garage door  remote opener was taken from an unlocked vehicle to gain access to the garage and tools were stolen. In the other Old Torrance burglary, the suspect fled when confronted by the victim inside the home. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 11 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Fatal Traffic Accident at Sepulveda and Hawthorne Blvds

Fatal Traffic Collision On Thursday, April 18, 2019, at approximately 8:41 PM, Torrance Police Officers responded to the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Hawthorne Boulevard regarding a traffic collision involving three vehicles and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation reveals the lone driver of a 2015 Toyota Highlander was travelling south on Hawthorne Boulevard approaching Sepulveda Boulevard on red light.  The driver continued south and struck a pedestrian who was standing on the pedestrian island which separates the south lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard and the right-turn lane.  After colliding with the pedestrian, the driver struck two additional vehicles travelling west across the intersection on a green signal.  The pedestrian, who was a 19-year-old male, sustained major injuries and was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notific

  This report is for Sunday, April 7th through Saturday, April 13, 2019. There are 40 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at:  https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=50468   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in Old Torrance and 1 each in Madrona, Walteria and Seaside areas. Glass doors were smashed for entry in two homes, a kitchen window was open in another home and a door was unsecured in a home where jewelry, a wallet and foreign currency was stolen.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 4 vehicles were unlocked.   AUTO THEFT There were 2 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT There were 15 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   VANDALISM There were 4 incidents in Torrance including 1 in Southeast Torrance. 4 10 2019    9AM to 3:14PM   2300 Block 239th St  Vehicle mirror

  This report is for Sunday, March 24th through Saturday, March 30,2019 49 incidents listed in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=50198   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in the Madrona area and 1 each in Seaside, Riviera and Walteria.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 12 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   On Sunday, March 24th at approximately 12:20PM, two incidents were reported in the 2600 Block of Lomita Blvd (Costco).  Suspect or suspects took purses out of vehicle as the victim was loading groceries in the vehicle.   AUTO THEFT There were 9 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT There were 9 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  No reports of porch piracy.   John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc.
