Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance.

This report is for Sunday, December 17, 2017 through Saturday, December 23, 2017 with an increase in reported incidents in Southeast Torrance. 56 incidents were reported during the week in Torrance.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 8 in Torrance.  2 were in  Southeast Torrance  and in North Torrance. 1 each in Old Torrance, Walteria, West and Seaside areas.   12/21/17  3 AM to 4 AM  23700 Block Western Ave (Knoll’s Mobil Home Park)  No entry, no loss.   12/17/17 11 AM to 12/18/17 8:20 PM  1900 Block 232nd St (Walnut-Cabrillo) Window screen removed, window forced open and property ransacked. Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

  This report is for Sunday, December 10, 2017 through Saturday, December 16, 2017. There were 44 entries in the log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY There was one on Saturday, December 16th between 10 AM and 1:15PM, in the 16600 Block of Van Ness Avenue.  Suspect  pried open rear door for entry and entered garage. Firearm, safe, cash, keys, paperwork and 2004 Lexus ES330 were stolen.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 12 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.  12/13/2017  10 AM to 11 AM  23600 Block Arlington Avenue Suspect entered unlocked vehicle and took wallet.   Items taken from the 12 vehicles included laptop, dash camera, purse, cash, credit cards, sunglasses, makeup, backpack, wallet, passport, watches, air compressor, knife, headphones, clothes, more sunglasses, another wallet, ladder, tools, wire, garage door opener, keys, another laptop and a vehicle battery.   AUTO THEFT There were 7 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.

    This report is for Sunday, December 3, 2017 through Saturday, December 9, 2017. 56 items are listed in the log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance.  1 each in North, Seaside, and the Hillside area,.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  4 vehicles were unlocked and windows were smashed in 7 vehicles for entry.   Items stolen included cosmetics, wallet (2), generator, external hard drives, stereo, cash (4) purse, shoes, jewelry, CD, tools, registration, insurance papers, keys, lingerie, text books, binders, gloves, phone mount, phone charger, yoga bag and mat, towel and keys.   THEFT INCLUDING PORCH PIRATES There were 8 incidents and none in Southeast Torrance.  A delivered parcel was taken from a porch in the 23200 Block of Elm Avenue.   Torrance Police Department Monday December 11th, 2017 :: 02:23 p.m. PST Community Package Thief Apprehended On Thursday, 07 December 2017, undercover Torrance Police Detectives resumed covert surveillance on a subject suspected of stealing packages from doorsteps.  Commonly referred to as “Porch Pirates”, investigators began working on a tip provided by a person victimized late October of this year. The victim, who lost a package from their own doorstep, provided officers with a possible vehicle to follow. During Thursday afternoon, investigators observed Justin Dabu casing residential areas in his vehicle.  During that time, he walked up to a residence located in the 3400 block of 227th Street and ultimately stole a package.  Investigators arrested him and conducted a probation search of his residence where additional stolen property was recovered.   Numerous cases were solved at the conclusion of the investigation, to include the one which

Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance 11 26 17 through 12 2 17 Increase in Reported Incidents

  This report is for Sunday, November 26, 2017 through Saturday, December 2, 2017. A significant increase in crime this reporting week with 92 incidents.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were three in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 each in Old Torrance, North and Riviera.  Entry made in two unlocked homes and suspect in the Old Torrance incident entered an unsecured vehicle to gain entry to a garage with a remote.   AUTO BURGLARIES 32 in Torrance, the largest weekly number this year, and 1 was in Southeast Torrance.   12 windows were smashed for entry and 11 vehicles were unlocked.  11 27 17 10 PM to 11 28 17 3 PM    22600 Pennsylvania Ave  Vehicle entered by unknown means with GPS, passport, sunglasses and paperwork stolen.   AUTO THEFT There were 18 stolen vehicles including 1 motorcycle.  In the North Torrance residential burglary, suspects entered via unsecured garage and obtained vehicle keys.  A 97 Chevy Suburban, a 2013 Hyu

Garage Sales Ordinance Proposed for Torrance

LAX 405 and 105 Traffic Advisory for Dec 7th and 8th

  TORRANCE PLANNING COMMISSION The agenda includes a petition of Hof’s Hut Restaurant, Inc., 23635 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance CA to allow an on-sale general alcohol liquor license.  The Commission will meet on December 6th at 7PM in the City Council Chambers to consider the application.   WEEKLY CRIME REPORT   Residential Burglaries There were 4 in North Torrance.  Sliding glass doors were smashed for entry in two homes.   Auto Burglaries There were 18 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  On Wednesday, November 22nd, windows were smashed in three vehicles in the 24500 Block of Hawthorne Blvd (Newton).   Items stolen from the vehicles included laptop (2) , wallet (3), back pack, shoes, purse (2), coat (2), MP3, cell phone, cash (2), bank card, medication, sports attire, eyeglasses, jacket, and drone.   Auto Theft There were 3 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. 11/21/17 to 11/24/17   2200 Block 229th St   2008 Ford E250 Cargo Van

There are 44 incidents on the report.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in the Hollywood Riviera, 1 in Southwood Sunray, 1 in North Torrance and 1 in Palo del Amo.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 10 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. Residents in Old Torrance Score Victory Against Developer

  Update on the Torrance City Council Meeting, Tuesday, November 14th   10A. Community Development – Consider Appeal of Planning Commission Approval of a Conditional Use Permit to Allow a New Service Station and Market with the Retail Sale of Beer and Wine for Off-Site Consumption, in Conjunction with a Tentative Parcel Map to Consolidate Parcels, on Properties Located Within the Torrance Tract Overlay Zone in the D-T Zone at 1954-1978 Carson Street (APNs 7357-016-001 to -005). CUP17-00011, DIV17-00007: Tower Energy Group (Mark Vasey).     This report is for Sunday, October, 29, 2017 through Saturday, November 4, 2017 with 49 incidents.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 3 in Walteria, 2 in the Hollywood Riviera, 1 in the Hillside and 1 in Southwood Riviera. 2 of the 3 burglaries in Walteria were between 11 AM and 11:23 AM on November 2nd.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 5 vehicles were unlocked and windows were smashed in 5 vehicles for entry. Wendy's is coming to Southeast Torrance

Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance The data for the report is not available this week.  The report will resume when the information is made available.   Torrance Police Activity in Southeast Torrance, Thursday, October 19th, Morning   Unconfirmed reports indicate three juvenile suspects, not residents of Torrance, were observed in a stolen vehicle in the Del Amo Target parking lot by Torrance Police.   The stolen vehicle drove away from the parking lot with Torrance Police in pursuit and headed east on Sepulveda Blvd in what could be described as a “reckless manner”.    The vehicle was stopped in the 1800 Block of 235th Street (235th and Walnut) with the three suspects attempting to run away from Torrance Police.  All three juvenile suspects were arrested by Torrance Police.    John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc. STEM Low Altitude Military Flights over the South Bay on Friday, October 13TH

    The flight path will be at an altitude low enough for easy viewing by the public. Check out the projected flyover time in your area on the links below. The flights are part of a two-day event -- an Edwards AFB Family Day Oct. 13 and the Run with History event Oct. 14 – that mark both the 70th anniversary of supersonic flight and the U.S. Air Force’s 70th Birthday.
