Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

This report is for Sunday, November 13, 2016 through Saturday, November 19, 2016. There were 62 incidents reported to Torrance Police during the reporting period. The report is late due to the Thanksgiving holiday.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance, 1 in North Torrance and 1 in the Seaside Ranchos area.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 16 in Torrance and 3 in Southeast Torrance. 11 14 8:15 PM to 11 15 7 AM         1800 Block 245th St (Falena) Unlocked Vehicle 11 15 5 PM      to 11 16 7:45 AM    2000 Block Reynosa Dr (Cabrillo) Entry by unknown means 11 17 3 PM       to 11 18 1 AM         1800 Block Schilling Court (Walnut) Unlocked Vehicle 6 vehicles were unsecured, 5 vehicles windows smashed for entry and 2 unknown means for entry. Three Pigeon Drop Scams in Torrance - Be Alert!

This report is for Sunday, November 6, 2016 through Saturday, November 12, 2016. There were 39 incidents reported to Torrance Police.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance.  1 in West Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.   1700 Block 245th St, 11/9/16 to 11/13/16, Laptop taken from unsecured garage.   4700 Block Deelane St, 11/11/16, 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Window air conditioning unit pushed in for entry.  Cash, handgun, small safe and jewelry stolen.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Windows were smashed in 6 vehicles for entry and 4 vehicles were unlocked. List of items stolen from vehicles: Wallets, Backpacks, tablet, sunglasses, ammunition, cash, bags, hair dryer, lingerie, books, purse, clothes, weights, umbrella, flashlight, COOKIES, hardhats, safety jacket, camera, camera lens, stereo, keys, game tickets, key lock box & keys, tote bag, makeup, tools, tool bag and toolbox.

 Torrance Refinery Experiences Fire in Alkylation Unit November 15, 2016 Torrance Fire and Torrance Police have responded to a fire in the alkylation unit at Torrance Refinery. No hazardous waste is involved, though there is a leak in a line. The fire may result in additional flaring. Authorities advise that Shelter in Place is not required. Report of Suspicious Man in Southeast Torrance

Report of a Suspicious Man in the Neighborhood in the vicinity of Leslie’s Pool Supply 234th and Western Avenue.  This was first reported on NextDoor.com Thursday Morning, 1AM, November 10, 2016 Suspicious man loitering area & rang doorbell A White male about 6 ft. tall rang our doorbell at 1:00 AM Thursday Morning. When speak easy window was opened to see if we could see anyone, there was no one in eyes view. My husband opened the door and a White male in his late 40's maybe early 50's started approaching our door, coming from our neighbor's on our right. He told my husband he needed help, wanted him to call a cab for him. Meanwhile I called the police. This report is for Sunday, October 30, 2016 through Saturday, November 6, 2016. There were 49 incidents reported to Torrance Police during the period.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were two in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 in North Torrance and 1 on Maricopa Street near Madrona Avenue. A door was unlocked in one of the residences.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were seven in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   AUTO THEFT There were five in Torrance and one in Southeast Torrance. On Thursday, November 3rd, two 2016 Mercedes Benz C300’s were stolen in the 3300 Block of Pacific Coast Highway.   A 1995 Ford Bronco was stolen sometime between October 31, 2016 and November 4, 2016 from the 23700 Block of Western Avenue in Southeast Torrance.  Vehicles are parked for days at a time on the east and west side of the trailer park.   THEFT There were 12 instances of theft and none in Southeast Torrance.
