Weekly Crime Report, March 14 through March 20, 2021

This report is for Sunday, March 14, 2021 through Saturday, March 20, 2021. 50 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=63813 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance. 2 on 235th Street & Juniper, 1 each in North, Old Torrance and Torrance Heights. One residence was entered via an unlocked window. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 10 in Torrance with three of the vehicles unlocked. Items stolen included roadside assistance gear, sunglasses, tools, power tool pack, power inverter, US Mail, jackhammer, tool box, laser levels, more sunglasses, backpack, bicycle and wheel & tire off a second bike which were locked to a rack on a vehicle, wallet, earbuds and registration. On March 17th, between 3:10 pm and 3:25 pm, a door was pried open on a US Mail truck and mail was stolen in the 1900 Block of 222nd St. AUTO THEFT There were 8 vehicles stolen in Torrance including 1 in Southeast Torrance on March 16th

This report is for Sunday, March 7, 2021 through Saturday, March 13, 2021 There are 48 items listed in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=63738 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 4 in Torrance. 2 in the Riviera and 1 each in North and Seaside areas. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 10+ in Torrance. Windows were smashed in 5 vehicles for entry, 3 vehicles were unlocked/unsecured and multiple unlocked vehicles had items stolen on 3/9/2021 at 3:40 AM at Carson and Madrona St. Items stolen included cash, satchel, plumbing tools, cell phone, purse, tool bag, toolboxes, tools, laptop, wallet, another cell phone, eyeglasses, more cash, tablet, and another wallet. AUTO THEFT There were 4 vehicles stolen in Torrance. 3 in North Torrance and 1 in the Riviera. Amazon Fulfillment Center to Replace Mulligans?

Bridge Development Partners wants to build a 174,000 square-foot distribution center outside Torrance. An entity connected to Bridge Development filed plans with the city of Los Angeles for the old Mulligans property at 1351-1361 Sepulveda Blvd in September, 2020. The warehouse would have a maximum ceiling height of 44 feet, offices and 190 parking spaces. We have not been able to confirm that the property has been sold. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION PRESS RELEASE - from the Redondo Beach Police Department The Police activity at Prospect and Torrance Blvd. is related to the press release below. A vehicle was stopped at the this location and the area is now the Police Command post. One suspect in custody, the other still outstanding. Multiple Departments on scene. On March 6, 2021 at about 8:00 PM, Redondo Beach Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block on North Juanita Avenue. Redondo Beach Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls regarding gunshots heard in the area. Officers went to a residence reported in one of the 9-1-1 calls and discovered a male adult who appeared to have sustained injuries from gunshot. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers responding to the scene located a vehicle leaving the area with the suspect(s).
