HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION PRESS RELEASE - from the Redondo Beach Police Department The Police activity at Prospect and Torrance Blvd. is related to the press release below. A vehicle was stopped at the this location and the area is now the Police Command post. One suspect in custody, the other still outstanding. Multiple Departments on scene. On March 6, 2021 at about 8:00 PM, Redondo Beach Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block on North Juanita Avenue. Redondo Beach Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls regarding gunshots heard in the area. Officers went to a residence reported in one of the 9-1-1 calls and discovered a male adult who appeared to have sustained injuries from gunshot. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers responding to the scene located a vehicle leaving the area with the suspect(s). The suspect(s) fled from officers in their vehicle and later abandoned the vehicle nearby, fleeing away on foot. At time of this press release, a containment has been set up, with officers actively searching for the suspect(s). The suspect(s) are believed to be armed and dangerous. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department – Homicide Division will be assisting the Redondo Beach Police Department with the investigation of this crime and will provide further details when they become available and ready for release. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
