Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance and Breeze Article on Coyote Tracking

  This report is for Sunday, February 12, 2017 through Saturday, February 18,   2017. There were 63 incidents reported. RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY There were 4 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in North Torrance, 1 in the Riviera and 1 in a hotel on Torrance Blvd. AUTO BURGLARY There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. AUTO THEFT There were 9 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. The Los Angeles Superior Court proposed class-action lawsuit was filed Friday, a day before a fire and another explosion at the refinery took about a half-hour to distinguish and forced the brief shutdown of Del Amo Boulevard. The plaintiffs in the case are Torrance resident and small business owner Arnold Goldstein, licensed Torrance real estate agent John Covas and Gisela Janette La Bella, who also works in the city. AQMD Calls for Special Hearing on the Torrance Refinery

AQMD Issues Administrative Order to The Torrance Refinery Company

AQMD Requires Torrance Refinery to Fix Power Issues

Torrance Refinery agrees to up its power to reduce flares The refinery has had to flare off gases during power outages that were outside its control, caused by reasons from Mylar balloons to fog. AQMD Hearing on the Torrance Refining Company Power Outage

2/15/17 HEARING ON PETITION FOR ORDER FOR ABATEMENT, REGARDING TORRANCE REFINERY On October 21, 2016, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) filed a stipulated petition for an administrative order, known as an Order for Abatement, against the Torrance Refining Company, LLC (“TORC”).  SCAQMD alleges that TORC’s flaring event at its Torrance refinery after an October 11, 2016 power outage, and the resulting impact to the surrounding community, caused a public nuisance.  SCAQMD seeks to require TORC to take certain measures to minimize the potential for future public nuisance events associated with power supply interruptions.  These measures include evaluation of TORC’s critical safety and utility systems, improvements based on those evaluations, and evaluation of proposed upgrades to TORC’s electrical distribution network design.   On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. the Hearing Board of the SCAQMD will hold a public hearing on t

Two Auto Burglaries in Southeast Torrance in the last 24 hours

  Residents in Southeast Torrance have reported two auto burglaries within the last 24 hours. Incident #1:    3:30 AM  Thursday, February 2, 2017  2000 Block 238th Street Description of Suspect:  Female in a older grey/silver Toyota Camary Incident #2:   Time:  Sometime after 9:30PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2017   1900 Block of 230th Street (Walnut-Cabrillo) Coins, reading glasses and additional personal items were taken from the vehicle. In the preceding week, there was an auto burglary in the 1900 Block of 234th Street, a vehicle window smashed in the 2400 Block  of 239th Street, and a 2012 Ford F350 Pickup stolen from the 22900 Block of Walnut Street.
