The model also projects the deaths per day and total deaths related to COVID-19. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations, an independent population health research center at UW Medicine, used data from the World Health Organization, as well as local and national governments to create the models. In California, the model projects the peak number of resources to be needed on April 24, when the state will need approximately 2,292 ICU beds and 1,238 ventilators. L A County Property Tax Due April 10th

STATEMENT FROM KEITH KNOX, TREASURER AND TAX COLLECTOR, REGARDING COVID-19 AND THE APRIL 10 PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE   Statement in Other Languages I understand that this is a very stressful time, especially for those suffering direct effects from this public health crisis, and my office is committed to helping in any way we can.  Los Angeles County property owners affected by the COVID-19 virus may have late penalties cancelled if they are unable to pay their property taxes by the April 10 deadline.   We have no authority to extend the April 10 deadline, as outlined by State Law.  However, beginning on April 11, the day after property taxes are due, people unable to pay on time for reasons related to COVID-19 may submit a request for penalty cancellation online. The department has set up a special team to process these requests for those who demonstrate they were affected by the outbreak.   We encourage all property owners who can pay their taxes on time

The Great American Take Out

A national coalition of restaurants has organized  “The Great American Takeout” on Tuesday, March 24 , asking Americans to order at least one delivery or pickup meal on Tuesday to show support for the restaurant industry.   Many of our favorite restaurants in Torrance are still working hard to keep us fed and the only way to support these struggling businesses is to order takeout or delivery.  Staying home doesn't mean you have to miss out on "Taco Tuesday" or your favorite weekly specials; order takeout, delivery or curbside pickup and be part of something bigger: #TheGreatAmericanTakeout Be sure to show your support for the great breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and pantry options being offered here in Torrance.  Call your favorite restaurant and place an order.
