  This report is for Sunday, December 9, 2018 through Saturday, December 15, 2018. 39 incidents were reported during the week.   INCREASE IN AUTO BURGLARIES AND AUTO THEFT IN SOUTHEAST TORRANCE THIS REPORTING PERIOD.   This report is for Sunday, December 2, 2018 through Saturday, December 8, 2018 46 incidents in the log for this reporting period. One person killed in Old Torrance shooting and Weekly Crime Report

    Police were investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting (OIS) Sunday night in Torrance, according to authorities and media reports. One person was killed in the OIS, media reports said. It was reported about 8 p.m. in the 1700 block of Carson street, slightly west of Western Avenue, Torrance police said. No officers were hurt. It’s unknown at this point what led up to the shooting. The area around the scene has been closed for the police and death investigation. People were urged to avoid the area. Broadcast reports said police had an armored vehicle at the scene. AQMD Refinery Fence Line Air Quality Monitoring

  The Torrance Refinery Rule 1180 Refinery Fence Line Monitoring Plan, as required by the South Coast AQMD, has been released for public comment.  Comments from the public will be accepted until 5:30PM, December 21, 2018. Capital Improvement Project in Southeast Torrance

  The City of Torrance has awarded a construction contract for work that will generally consist of localized repairs of damaged sidewalks,  repair of damaged curbs and driveways and handicap ramp upgrades in Southeast Torrance.  There will also be some associated tree removal and replacements.  The work has begun and is anticipated to last through March 2019. The project will be in the area from Sepulveda Blvd on the north to the city limits on the south and from Cabrillo Avenue on the west to  Western Avenue on the east in Southeast Torrance. The contractor will be distributing a flyer in phases as the construction progresses.  However, they will only be distributing  flyers to addresses where work is occurring. We are letting you know now about the project so you will be aware of it. The flyer has contact information if you have any questions about the project. Residential Fire in Southeast Torrance
