This report is for Sunday, January 3, 2021 through Saturday, January 9, 2021. There are 56 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=62925 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY There was 1 in the 3400 Block of Maricopa Street 1/8 1:30 AM Suspect removed screen, slid window open and fled when confronted by occupant. AUTO BURGLARY There were 27 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Windows were smashed in 12 vehicles for entry, 11 vehicles were unlocked and 6 were entered by unknown means. Items stolen included a laptop, sunglasses, cardholder, duffel gloves. shoes, earbuds, 5 wallets, toolbox, tools, cash, monopad, coin purse, backpack, debit card and more. AUTO THEFT There were 6 stolen/attempted stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. They included a 06 Chevy Silverado, 01 Chevy Suburban, 19 Nissan Rogue, 98 Honda Civic, 06 GMC Sierra and a 02 Ford F250 Pickup. THEFT There were 13 incidents in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. 1 8 2021 9:36PM 23500 Block Western Av Catalytic Converters stolen from 2 vehicles. A total of 6 catalytic converters were stolen this reporting period along with 3 failed attempts. 1 was taken on January 7th at 8:20PM in the Costco parking lot. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
