Torrance Memorial Hospital COVID-19 Vaccine Update

PATIENT AND COMMUNITY VACCINE ADMINISTRATION UPDATE County Executive Order Opens Vaccinations To 65 and Older this Week As of January 20, 2021 -- Earlier this week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors released an executive order directing county health officials to make COVID-19 vaccination appointments available to Los Angeles county residents 65 and older. While we welcome this news, we are awaiting confirmation on the availability of vaccine doses to expand our vaccination clinics to people 65 years and older (must be LA county residents). At this time, the County is distributing weekly allocations of the vaccine based on what is available at the county level. As a result, Torrance Memorial will likely hold limited vaccine clinics in the coming weeks until more vaccine is made available to the county. We are in daily contact with LACDPH and are actively preparing to hold vaccination clinics to those in Phase 1A and LA County residents 65 years of age and older. Eligibility guidelines are set by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) with no exceptions. Torrance Memorial will NOT hold vaccination clinics for people 65 years or older this week. We will share more information in the coming days about when and how we will implement this new executive order. Over the next several days and weeks, more vaccination sites will open in the South Bay. Because our clinics will be limited in the number of vaccines we can deliver, we encourage you to visit LACDPH website to find alternative vaccine clinics near you. You will find answers to many frequently asked questions on our COVID-19 resource hub. Following are answers to some questions related to the lastest vaccine update: Is Torrance Memorial taking appointments now or can people call to sign up? Not at this time. We are working to operationalize these clinics and will send emails and update our website when registration opens. If you have questions or want to find out about Torrance Memorial’s patient clinics, please visit our website TorranceMemorial.org/COVIDVaccine or call our COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline 310-784-6824 to hear a recorded message when the clinics will be open to patients. How do people find out when they will receive the vaccine? For the most up-to-date information on Los Angeles County vaccine distribution and the estimated time frames it will be rolled out, click here. To sign up to receive Public Health COVID-19 vaccine email alerts, click here. LACDPH website is the best source of truth to find the latest on when the vaccine will be available to more people. What should I do while I wait to be vaccinated? Follow the prevention guidelines currently in place. You should cover your mouth and nose with a face covering whenever you are around others. Avoid close contact with other people outside your household, especially if they could be sick. Practice physical distancing and wash your hands often. Are there other vaccination sites in the South Bay? Yes, more vaccination sites will be made available throughout the South Bay.
