SCE Logo  8 18 2020
To Our Valued Customers:

We still need your help to conserve power. The current heatwave is expected to extend through Wednesday for most of Southern California, causing stress on the power grid. Please continue to help minimize statewide rotating outages by reducing your energy usage between the hours of 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Energy Conservation Tips
You can save energy by raising your air conditioner setting to at least 78°F, and turning off appliances you’re not using. We’ve also provided a list of tips on how to save energy, plus information about what SCE is doing to help below.

NEM Solar and Battery Storage Customers
We also need support from our Net Energy Metering (NEM) solar and battery storage customers too. When you reduce usage, your excess energy will be delivered to the grid to help your neighbors and help prevent CAISO rotating outages.

Learn More About CAISO Rotating Outages
Since this heatwave began, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has issued two statewide Stage 3 emergencies and directed SCE to reduce its electrical power load, including through rotating outages of customers.

If rotating outages are needed, you can visit our website for updates and see if your account may be impacted. Your rotating outage block is shown on your bill. CAISO rotating outages typically last one hour or less, and are critical to helping prevent longer, more widespread outages during system emergencies.

By working together to conserve energy, we’ll help reduce stress on the statewide power grid and help minimize the need for CAISO rotating outages.

Thank you again for your help, and please remember to stay safe in the heat. If you need access to a cool center during the heatwave, click here to find a facility in your area.

Sincerely,

Jill C. Anderson
