Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance and Sandbags for Torrance Residents


This report is for Sunday, December 27, 2016 through Saturday, January 2, 2016.
There were 34 incidents reported to Torrance Police during the week.
 
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
There were two in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
One in the 20500 Block of Anza Avenue (Spencer) and one in
the 2900 Block of Carson St (Flower).  A bedroom window was
unlocked in one of the burglaries.
 
AUTO BURGLARIES
There were 11 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
Windows were smashed in four vehicles, three vehicles had
open windows or were unlocked and entry was made via
unknown means in three vehicles. 
 
This is a list of the items stolen from the vehicles.

There were 6 thefts reported in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
Sunday, December 27th 3 PM to 3:15 PM, 2000 Block 234th St (Walnut – Cabrillo)
Suspect takes unattended property and flees/purse, wallet, cash, ID’s credit cards
and check book.
 
Sandbags for Torrance Residents

Street Maintenance provides free sandbags to residents in Torrance residing in single-family homes and duplexes only. During storms, Street Maintenance orders and fills sandbags for Torrance residents. Each resident can pick up a maximum of 25 filled sandbags at no cost at the City Yard, depending on availability. Please call Public Works at 310-781-6900 before coming to the City Yard to make sure a crew is available to help load the sandbags into a truck or car.  Also, be sure to bring some form of ID (Driver's License) to show residency within the City of Torrance.
During after-hours storm emergencies, Torrance residents may call the Torrance Fire Department at 310-781-7042 for information on sandbag availability.

Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
