This report is for Sunday, April 25, 2021 through Saturday, May 1, 2021. There are 54 items in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/65090 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES 2 in Torrance. 1 in the Summer Wind area and 1 in Old Torrance. Items stolen included a safe, handgun, ammo, watches, jewelry, coins, cash, keys, bonds, checkbooks and pink slips. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 9 in Torrance. 5 vehicles were unlocked/unsecured. Items stolen included tools, keys, laundry basket, clothes, two purses, hoodie, garage remote, registration, three wallets and lighters. AUTO THEFT There were 8 stolen vehicles including a forklift. Older model Chevie Silverados and GMC Serras are still being stolen. THEFT There were 21 incidents reported in Torrance. 2 bicycles and 9 catalytic converters were stolen in Walteria, the Riviera, Rolling Hills Plaza, Old Torrance and the Hillside area. Scam of the Week 16800 Block of Yukon Av On 5/1/2021 at 2 PM, suspects phoned victim with one suspect posing as her daughter, the other suspect convincing the victim that the daughter is being held after interfering in a drug deal and to wire funds for her release. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
