Weekly Crime Report 1 21 2018 through 1 27 2018



This report is for Sunday, January 21, 2018 through Saturday, January 27, 2018.
There were 48 incidents in the log.
 
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
A dramatic increase in residential burglaries with 14 reported incidents.
7 in Old Torrance, 4 in the Madrona area, 1 each in North, Madrona and
Delthorne areas.
 
Here are details on some of the burglaries.
January 26th  3PM  1400 Block El Prado Ave in Old Torrance.
A suspect posing as a utility worker distracted the victim in the backyard while
the accomplice entered the residence but the suspects fled before taking any
property when the victim re-entered her residence.  No description of the suspects.
 
January 26th 4PM  3200 Block El Dorado St in the Madrona area.
Suspect poses as a utility worker and distracted the victim in the backyard while
the accomplice entered the residence and stole jewelry.  No description of the suspects.
 
January 27th 9 AM to 10:50 AM  23000 Block Eriel Avenue in the Marble Estates area.
Window screen removed and window smashed for entry.  No window curtains in the
back windows.  It was reported that Police have never seen a house so badly ransacked.
Talk in the neighborhood that burglars might be targeting Asian residences since some
keep lots of cash on hand.  Be vigilant for unfamiliar cars or suspicious behavior in your
neighborhood. 
 
 AUTO BURGLARIES
There were 6 auto burglaries in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
January 23rd 10:45 AM to 1:20 PM  1700 Sepulveda Blvd (at Western Ave)  Window smashed
for entry with backpack and eyesglasses stolen.
 
AUTO THEFT
There were 6 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.

Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
