RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

There were three residential burglaries in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance

 

1 in North Torrance.  The residence was tented for fumigation and a window was smashed for entry.

1 in Old Torrance and 1 at the Marriott Hotel.

 

AUTO BURGLARIES

There were six in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.

 

The Easy Reader, an edition of The Register, Thursday, April 24, 2014 edition reported the following statistics:

2013        566        An increase of 7% since 2012 and 11% since 2011

In the first two months of 2014, 114 burglaries were reported in Torrance.

The Easy Reader reported Torrance Police Chief Mark Matsuda said, “So far

this year, residential burglaries have risen by about 25 percent compared

with the same time last year”.  In Southeast Torrance we have not had a

reported residential burglary in 5 weeks.

Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
