On 6/21 between 6 am and 11 am, 22900 Block of Arlington, suspect forces open door and took game consoles, TV, jewelry box and jewelry. On 6/21 at approx 3:25 am, 3700 Block of Artesia Blvd, multiple mailboxes were pried open and mail and parcels were stolen. Betweeen 6/23 and 6/25, 21300 Anza Ave, residence was entered by unknown means and ransacked. Property taken from inside the house and driveway included a TV, printer, cattle skull, electric guitars, tools, clothes, jewelry, speakers, pool cues and two automobiles - 08 BMW335i and a 05 Nissan Altima. Proposed Site for Homelessness Housing in Torrance

The Torrance City Council on Tuesday, June 22nd at 7 PM will consider a recommendation of the City Manager that City Council approve the Torrance Civic Center grounds to be a site for temporary housing for people experiencing homelessness and authorize staff to continue discussion with the County of Los Angeles in developing the program and securing funding sources for capital and operating expenses. Items stolen included tools, cash, access card, sun visors, engine parts, dash camera, jewelry, tote, ID, wallet, pickup tailgate, golf clubs, registration, keys, another wallet, registration and title, and electronic stud finder. AUTO THEFT 11 vehicles were stolen in Torrance and most of them were oldies. 85 Toyota P/U, 93 Honda Civic, 98 Chev Van, 99 Honda Civic, 00 Chev Silverado, 04 Chev Suburban, 05 Chev Sierra, 05 GMC Sierra, 2011 Ford F350, 14, BMW X3 and a 2016 Ford Transit. THEFT There were 14 incidents and 10 of those were catalytic converter issues. A catalytic converter was stolen in the 1900 block of 238th St on June 1st.

Lt Jeremiah Hart promoted to Torrance Police Chief effective June 20, 2021

 I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremiah Hart to the position of Chief of Police effective June 20, 2021 at the conclusion of Jon Megeff’s term as Interim Chief. Incoming Chief Hart began his career in Law Enforcement as a Patrol Officer with the City of Pasadena from 1998 to 2001. He was hired by the Torrance Police Department in 2001, and served in various assignments including Patrol Officer, Motor Officer, Recruitment Training Officer, and Patrol Field Supervisor. Jay was promoted to Sergeant (2008-2015), where he oversaw research and training, served as the Chief’s Adjutant/Public Information Officer, and as Personnel Sergeant. When appointed Lieutenant (2015-present), Jay served as Watch Commander, supervised the Traffic and Special Events Division, and managed the Communications/Information Technology Division. Collateral assignments as a Lieutenant included SWAT and UAS Commander, Arrest and Control/Use of Force/Firearms and Field Tactics Training Cadre.

Amazon Fulfillment Center to Replace Mulligans?

Bridge Development Partners wants to build a 174,000 square-foot distribution center outside Torrance. An entity connected to Bridge Development filed plans with the city of Los Angeles for the old Mulligans property at 1351-1361 Sepulveda Blvd in September, 2020. The warehouse would have a maximum ceiling height of 44 feet, offices and 190 parking spaces. We have not been able to confirm that the property has been sold. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION PRESS RELEASE - from the Redondo Beach Police Department The Police activity at Prospect and Torrance Blvd. is related to the press release below. A vehicle was stopped at the this location and the area is now the Police Command post. One suspect in custody, the other still outstanding. Multiple Departments on scene. On March 6, 2021 at about 8:00 PM, Redondo Beach Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block on North Juanita Avenue. Redondo Beach Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls regarding gunshots heard in the area. Officers went to a residence reported in one of the 9-1-1 calls and discovered a male adult who appeared to have sustained injuries from gunshot. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers responding to the scene located a vehicle leaving the area with the suspect(s). PATIENT AND COMMUNITY VACCINE ADMINISTRATION UPDATE County Executive Order Opens Vaccinations To 65 and Older this Week As of January 20, 2021 -- Earlier this week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors released an executive order directing county health officials to make COVID-19 vaccination appointments available to Los Angeles county residents 65 and older. While we welcome this news, we are awaiting confirmation on the availability of vaccine doses to expand our vaccination clinics to people 65 years and older (must be LA county residents). At this time, the County is distributing weekly allocations of the vaccine based on what is available at the county level. As a result, Torrance Memorial will likely hold limited vaccine clinics in the coming weeks until more vaccine is made available to the county.
