Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

  Subject: SETHA EMAIL - Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance   This report is for Sunday, January 15, 2017 through Saturday, January 21, 2017. There were 59 incidents reported to Torrance Police.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 4 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. Other burglaries were in North Torrance, Southwood Riviera and Springwood.   1/17 9 PM to 1/18 8 AM   2400 Block 239th St (Pennsylvania Avenue) Tools taken from unlocked garage.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 18 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   However,  an auto burglary did occur this morning, 1900 Block 234th Street, (Walnut).  Report not filed on loss.  Suspect was a young male with a backpack, riding a small bicycle.  Suspect was apprehended at 236th and Walnut St.   Items stolen from vehicles during the reporting period. Emissions from Refinery Flares

The AQMD has responded to the concerns of Torrance residents about emissions from flaring during external events like power failures on the local grid and from flaring events by refinery activities. Rule 1118, Control of Emissions from Refinery Flares, has been scheduled for consideration during the month of June 2017 by the AQMD.  The AQMD Quarterly Flare Emission Report for 2015 shows  t he target  SOx emissions of 54,717 pounds and the actual total SOx emissions of 208, 496.9 pounds for 2015.  The 2016  report is not yet available. Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

  This report is for Sunday, January 1, 2017 through Saturday, January 7, 2017. Traffic Delay on Eastbound Lomita Blvd

  Diesel fuel is linking from a pipeline under the driveway on the north side of Crossroads Shopping Center impacting east bound traffic on Lomita Blvd.  The driveway is now closed.   Eastbound traffic on Lomita Blvd has been reduced to one lane.  Possible alternate routes to avoid eastbound Lomita Blvd are Skypark Drive and the Telo/237th St shortcut.   John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc.
