Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance 8 20 17 to 8 26 17

  Subject:   SETHA Email - Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance   This report is for Sunday, August 20, 2017 through Saturday, August 26, 2017. 44 incidents are on the log this week.  Link to the complete report:   https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=20191   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES An increase in burglaries this week.  There were 8 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in North Torrance, 2 in the Riviera, and 1 each in the Madrona area, Anza & Emerald, Walteria and Old Torrance.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 17 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.  6 vehicles were unlocked, 9 vehicle windows were smashed for entry and 2 by unknown means.  Six purses were stolen from vehicles!   8 21 17  7PM to 8 22 17 8 AM  2300 227th Street   MP3 taken from possible unlocked vehicle.   The following items were stolen from the vehicles: Wallet, sunglasses, pay stubs, SSN, charger, purses (6), framing gun, molding gun, grinders, circ

Water Main Break and Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

  The public is asked to please avoid the area of 238th Street and Huber Avenue due to a water main break and subsequent gas line rupture. The gas leak is not active. Water and gas in the immediate area have been shut off. Torrance Water Department and the Gas Company are on scene. AQMD Casts Doubt on Refinery Safety

  Southern California’s air quality watchdog has become the latest regulatory agency to cast doubt on the safety of a potentially deadly chemical used at the Torrance refinery, concluding there is not enough evidence to dismiss concerns that a toxic cloud could form and kill or injure tens of thousands. South Coast Air Quality Management District staff members came to what they described as an “initial conclusion” while reviewing data provided by refinery owner PBF Energy via its subsidiary, the Torrance Refining Co.   The report for the week of July 30, 2017 through August 5, 2017 is not available for review.   This report is for Sunday, August 6, 2017 through Saturday, August 12, 2017. 58 items are listed in the report.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 6 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 4 in North Torrance and 2 in Southwood-Sunray.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 17 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Windows were smashed in 4 vehicles and 2 vehicles were unlocked.   AUTO THEFT There were 6 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT 16 incidents were reported and none in Southeast Torrance. Meeting Notice - Proposed 220 Unit Apartment Complex at Lomita and Crenshaw Blvd

This report is for Sunday, July 23, 2017 through Saturday, July 29, 2017. There were 36 items listed in the log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   1 in West Torrance on July 24th between 1 AM and 3 AM in the 19300 Block of Entradero Avenue. Entry made via unlocked door, residence ransacked and TV stolen. 1 in North Torrance on July 23rd between 3 PM and 8:30 PM in the 3800 Block of 173rd Street. Suspect placed chair under window and cut window screen.  No entry.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 12 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   Vehicles windows were smashed for entry in 7 of the 12 vehicles.   Items stolen included:  metal detector equipment, credit cards (3), gift cards, bags (2), paperwork, checkbook, purses (4), wallets (3), coin purse, backpack, cash, tablet, laptop, briefcase, makeup, headphones, drivers license, id card, sunglasses, timing belt kit, surf racks, trunk organizer, ster
