Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance and Updates

Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

 This report is for Sunday, December 22, 2016 through Saturday, December 17, 2016. There were 49 incidents reported to Torrance Police.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in Old Torrance and 1 each in North, Hollywood Riviera and Southwood. The burglary in the Riviera was between 6:30 PM and 10 PM while the others were during the day.  The house in Southwood is under construction and the garage was open in one of the Old Torrance burglaries.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 15 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.  Third row seats were taken from 3 vehicles during daylight hours.   12/17 7PM to 12/18 8 AM   2100 Block 235th Street Suspect enters unlocked vehicle and took firearms, backpack, medication, cash and flashlights.   List of items stolen from vehicles this reporting period.  This report is for Sunday, December 4, 2016 through Saturday, December 10, 2016 There were 55 incidents reported to Torrance Police during the week.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY There was one in Torrance and it was in North Torrance.   AUTO BURGLARY There were 23 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. 12/8 3:45PM to 12/9 7:30AM   2400 Block 237th Place (Pennsylvania Ave to Crenshaw Blvd) Vehicle entered by unknown means and clipboard stolen. Method used to enter vehicles: 5-Smashed window, 6-Unknown means, 4-unlocked, 3-door lock punched, 2-door handle defeated.   AUTO THEFT There were 8 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT There were 11 instances in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Tuesday, December 13th, 12:35AM Police Activity in Southeast Torrance 235 and Walnut Streets

  At 12:35 AM, Tuesday Morning, December 13th, Torrance Police received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon (Code 245) that just occurred in the area of 235th Street and Walnut Street involving possible gang members using a firearm.   Victims indicated they were walking in the area of 235th/Walnut when the suspect vehicle approached and two passengers exited, brandishing a small revolver and began yelling at them.   Victims, in fear, fled to a nearby residence and hid as the suspects fled in the suspect vehicle.   Torrance Police units responded, code 3, and located the suspect vehicle, which turned out to be a stolen vehicle. A felony stop was conducted and one subject fled on foot from the vehicle and jumped the fence into the Knolls Lodge Trailer Park on Walnut.  Two other were detained in the vehicle and a perimeter was established.  Approximately one hour later into the perimeter, the third subject exited Knolls Lodge Trailer Park and was take

 ///Important Change to the Meeting/// 10PM 12 7 2016 This item has been pulled from the agenda.  The AQMD calendar item now reads, "Rescheduled or Off Calendar 0/A Resched to 1/17/17"   The AQMD Hearing Board will meet on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 9:00 AM in the Hearing Board Room at 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar CA 91765.   One of the agenda items is the SCAQMD vs. Torrance Refining Company LLC – #6060-5 Order of Abatement.   On October 13, 2016, the SCAQMD announced several enforcement and rulemaking actions aimed at reducing repeated and excessive flaring from the Torrance Refining Co. refinery. The SCAQMD issued a Notice of Violation to the refinery for a violation of the agency’s Rule 402, which prohibits any facility from causing a public nuisance due to air pollution.   NO-BURN ALERT:  MANDATORY WOOD-BURNING BAN IN EFFECT TOMORROW FOR RESIDENTS OF THE SOUTH COAST AIR BASIN   All Indoor and Outdoor Residential Wood Burning Prohibited Due to High Air Pollution Predicted for Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6, 2016   The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has issued a residential no-burn alert effective Tuesday, December 6, 2016, for all those living in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Orange County and non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.  SCAQMD reminds residents in these areas that burning wood in their fireplaces, both indoors and outdoors, is prohibited from midnight tonight through midnight on Tuesday.   No-burn alerts are mandatory in order to protect public health due to a high concentration of fine particulate air pollution forecast for the area.  The no-burn prohibition also applies to manufactured fire logs, such as those made from wax or paper.

Three Pigeon Drop Scams in Torrance - Be Alert!

There were 39 incidents reported to Torrance Police.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance.  1 in West Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.   1700 Block 245th St, 11/9/16 to 11/13/16, Laptop taken from unsecured garage.   4700 Block Deelane St, 11/11/16, 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Window air conditioning unit pushed in for entry.  Cash, handgun, small safe and jewelry stolen.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Windows were smashed in 6 vehicles for entry and 4 vehicles were unlocked. List of items stolen from vehicles: Wallets, Backpacks, tablet, sunglasses, ammunition, cash, bags, hair dryer, lingerie, books, purse, clothes, weights, umbrella, flashlight, COOKIES, hardhats, safety jacket, camera, camera lens, stereo, keys, game tickets, key lock box & keys, tote bag, makeup, tools, tool bag and toolbox.

Report of Suspicious Man in Southeast Torrance

This report is for Sunday, October 30, 2016 through Saturday, November 6, 2016. There were 49 incidents reported to Torrance Police during the period.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were two in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 in North Torrance and 1 on Maricopa Street near Madrona Avenue. A door was unlocked in one of the residences.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were seven in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   AUTO THEFT There were five in Torrance and one in Southeast Torrance. On Thursday, November 3rd, two 2016 Mercedes Benz C300’s were stolen in the 3300 Block of Pacific Coast Highway.   A 1995 Ford Bronco was stolen sometime between October 31, 2016 and November 4, 2016 from the 23700 Block of Western Avenue in Southeast Torrance.  Vehicles are parked for days at a time on the east and west side of the trailer park.   THEFT There were 12 instances of theft and none in Southeast Torrance.
