At 12:35 AM, Tuesday Morning, December 13th, Torrance Police received a
call of an assault with a deadly weapon (Code 245) that just
occurred in the area of 235th Street and Walnut Street involving possible
gang members using a firearm.
Victims indicated they were walking in the area of 235th/Walnut when the
suspect vehicle approached and two passengers exited,
brandishing a small revolver and began yelling at them.
Victims, in fear, fled to a nearby residence and hid as the suspects fled
in the suspect vehicle.
Torrance Police units responded, code 3, and located the suspect vehicle,
which turned out to be a stolen vehicle.
A felony stop was conducted and one subject fled on foot from the vehicle
and jumped the fence into the Knolls Lodge Trailer
Park on Walnut. Two other were detained in the vehicle and a perimeter was
established. Approximately one hour later
into the perimeter, the third subject exited Knolls Lodge Trailer Park and
was taken into custody.
The area was checked for the firearm but it was not found. All three
suspects lived in Lomita and were 13, 15, and 16 years old.
They were arrested for Code 245, assault with a deadly weapon, 182PC, 602
WIC and 10851 CVD, unlawful taking of a vehicle.
