Daily Breeze article on shooting at Cabrillo and Sepulveda

Torrance police shoot, kill woman at end of vehicle pursuit By Larry Altman, Daily Breeze A woman driving erratically through Torrance was shot to death by police Monday afternoon when she drove straight at officers, forcing them to jump out of her way, and slammed into a patrol car, authorities said. At least two officers opened fire on the slow-moving car at about 2:30 p.m. at Sepulveda Boulevard and Cabrillo Avenue. One officer suffered minor injuries, Torrance police Sgt. Paul Kranke said. Police officers spotted the motorist shortly after receiving a call of a reckless and possibly drunken driver near Arlington and Post avenues, Kranke said. Officers tried to stop the four-door sedan, but the driver continued on. “The driver was driving erratically on the wrong side of the road, almost hit several vehicles, had traffic collision damage and the air bag  deployed,” Kranke said. An officer bumped the vehicle to get the driver to stop next to a Chevron station. The drive

Truck Burglaries in Southeast Torrance

There was a number of burglaries last night involving pickup trucks with hard cover lids on the bed of the vehicle in Southeast Torrance.   The suspects jammed something into the locks and forced them open.  4 vehicles were broken into in the area around 230th Street and Walnut Street.  One vehicle had approximately $3800 dollars worth of work related equipment.   Remember, leave absolutely nothing in your car or truck if you have to leave parked outside even if you keep it locked regardless if it is day or night.  This is not the Torrance we used to know as the safest city in the South Bay.   The Weekly Crime Report was not released yesterday and will not be emailed this week.   John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc. Residential Burglary Scam

Police Warn of Burglaries that Involve Suspects Posing as City Workers 04 Tuesday Oct 2016   Posted by City of Torrance in News   Police are warning residents to be aware of people posing as City employees who create a distraction while accomplices burglarize homes. Most recently, Torrance Police responded to a residential burglary report in the 2300 block of West 179th Street. The investigation showed that a female suspect posed as a Torrance City worker and approached the couple at their home. The suspect asked if they would escort her to the back yard so they could discuss where the City could install a utility pole. While the suspect distracted the couple, another suspect entered the victims’ residence and stole approximately $10,000 in jewelry. Authorities say to always ask for identification and even call the department where the person says they work to confirm they really are a City employee. And if there’s any doubt, always ask them to m
