AQMD Meeting on Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) and Modified Hydrogen Fluoride (MHF) used in Refineries in the South Bay

A meeting of the South Coast Air Quality Management District Board will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2019  in the Auditorium at SCAQMD Headquarters, 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar, California.   Agenda Item  25. Proposed Approach to Address Hydrogen Fluoride Storage and Use at Petroleum Refineries  (This includes The Torrance Refinery)   Staff will present information on  hydrogen fluoride use, health impacts, dispersion characteristics , and mitigation measures. Staff has been working with stakeholders on the development of Proposed Rule 1410 – Hydrogen Fluoride Storage and Use at Petroleum Refineries, and providing updates to the Refinery Committee since April 2017. Staff will also present concepts that could be included in a rule or MOU for mitigation requirements and a possible phase-out of MHF if proposed performance standards are not met. This action is to seek Board input on the overall concept and to direct staff on how to proceed to address hydrogen flu

This report is for Sunday, January 13, 2019 through Saturday, January 19, 2019. 46 incidents are listed on the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=47823 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 in Old Torrance and 1 in North Torrance.  AUTO BURGLARIES There were 13 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 3 were on January 16th between 6 PM and 8:25 PM in the  3500 Block of Carson St (Del Amo Mall) AUTO THEFT There were 6 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance THEFT There were 15 reported incidents including car batteries being stolen in North Torrance and Old Torrance. Video of Tuesday, January 22, 2019 Auto Burglary in Southeast Torrance

  This report is for Sunday, January 6, 2019 through Saturday, January 12, 2019. 50 incidents were listed on the Torrance Police Weekly Crime Log at https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=47705 .   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in the Seaside area, 2 in North Torrance and 1 in Southwood. A 2001 Chevrolet Suburban was also stolen from one of the Seaside homes using keys found in the residence.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 18 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 7 were in Southwood Riveria and windows were smashed to gain entry in all those vehicles.   AUTO THEFT There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   THEFT There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 1 incident of porch piracy in the 3500 Block of Emerald St.   AGGRESSIVE BATTERY-WEAPON 1 incident in Southeast Torrance. 1 11 2019  227th and Crenshaw Blvd  Suspect closed car door on victim’

Eastbound Traffic on PCH in Lomita between Narbonne Ave and Eshelman Shut Down

  The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Lomita Station at 12:05PM, 1/15/2019, advised that there will be no eastbound traffic on PCH in Lomita from Narbonne Avenue east to Eshelman Avenue until further notice.   This closure is due to an electrical box fire.   John Bailey, President Southeast Torrance Homeowners’ Association, Inc.   This report is for Sunday, December 30, 2018 through Saturday, January 5, 2019. 30 items are listed on the Weekly Crime Log at  https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=47475 .   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 4 in Torrance.  2 in Southeast Torrance, 1 in Old Torrance and 1 in West Torrance.   1/3/19 4:30PM to 1/4/19 9AM         23700 Block Vine Av  Suspect entered unlocked door.  Unknown loss at time of report. 1/5/19 9:30AM to 1/6/19 9:30AM    2300 Block 235th Pl   Suspect attempted to open partially open door but was blocked by lock.  no entry, no loss.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 11 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
