Torrance Refinery Experiences Fire in Alkylation Unit

November 15, 2016

Torrance Fire and Torrance Police have responded to a fire in the alkylation unit at Torrance Refinery. No hazardous waste is involved, though there is a leak in a line. The fire may result in additional flaring.

Authorities advise that Shelter in Place is not required.

Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
