When: Wednesday, November 16, 2016
Where: Richardson Middle School
23751 NancyLee Lane
Torrance CA 90505
Time: Meeting Begins at 7PM, Doors Open at 6:30PM
Subject: Residents Concerns About the Refinery
WHAT ARE THE ISSUES? WHY ALL THE FLARING?
WHAT’S THE PROBLEM WITH MHF AND HF.
ARE WE SAFE? WHAT NEEDS TO BE
DONE?
FLARE, Families Lobbying Against Refinery Exposures and TRAA, Torrance
Refinery Action Alliance
will make presentations followed by questions from the audience for the
two groups.
FLARE is a community group made up of concerned residents located throughout the South Bay. They are community watchdogs, working to ensure that the health and well being of South Bay residents is weighed as heavily as the needs of the Torrance Refinery. There aim is to educate and empower residents so that they may call upon their representatives to ensure that Torrance Refinery is operating at optimal safety for workers and the surrounding South Bay community.
TRAA's top demand is the elimination of Modified Hydrofluoric Acid
(MHF) at the refinery. TRAA’s broader mission is to hold ExxonMobil, the City of
Torrance, and all regulatory agencies accountable and responsible to community
residents for inherently safer design as well as the safe and transparent
operation and maintenance of the ExxonMobil Torrance
Refinery.
The meeting is open to the public.
