Suspicious man loitering area & rang doorbell
A White male about 6 ft. tall
rang our doorbell at 1:00 AM Thursday Morning. When speak easy window was opened
to see if we could see anyone, there was no one in eyes view. My husband opened
the door and a White male in his late 40's maybe early 50's started approaching
our door, coming from our neighbor's on our right.
He told my husband he needed
help, wanted him to call a cab for him. Meanwhile I called the police. I was
transferred from LA County dispatch to Torrance Police Department who asked for
full description and stated they would send a unit. This man stayed outside
sitting on a bench at Leslie Pool Supply and again we called the police a second
time, 20 minutes after the first call but the police arrived about 50 min to an
hour later. It was scary.
He wasn't threatening but
the fact that he rang our doorbell that late with such odd request was just
bizarre. He finally left right before the police arrived. When I made the second
call, they said they would send a unit when one became available. Then I asked
the dispatch officer how long would it be, he said he couldn't tell me. Finally
when the patrol car arrived it just cruised through the alley and drove off 235
St.
It was disappointing that
they took so long to respond. I understand they might have other priorities but
you hear of home invasions all the time and it was pretty scary. I have reported
this information to the police.
