Water Main Break and Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

 The public is asked to please avoid the area of 238th Street and Huber Avenue due to a water main break and subsequent gas line rupture.The gas leak is not active. Water and gas in the immediate area have been shut off. Torrance Water Department and the Gas Company are on scene. Repair work is expected to be complete by 10 a.m., Sunday, August 27, 2017.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
There was one in Torrance in the 4300 Block of 230th Place in Southwood Riviera
on Thursday, August 17th between 8 AM and 3:43 PM.  Window smashed for
entry and the residence was ransacked.  No details on the loss.
 
There was a residential burglary in Torrance Gardens last night.  Entry made by
smashing rear patio door in house on Fonthill between El Dorado and Torrance Blvd.
 
AUTO BURGLARY
There were 10 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. A window was
smashed for entry in 1 vehicle, 1 vehicle was unlocked, 1 window was pried open
and entry via unknown means in 5 vehicles.
 
Items stolen include tires, third row seats, truck speakers, tools, MP3, headphones, cosmetics,
perfume, shoes, wallet, electrical tools, laptop, sunglasses, key, purse and radar detector.
 
There was an auto burglary in Southeast Torrance this past week on August 25th between
9PM – 12PM near 237th and Arlington.  Sunglasses, eye glasses, IPod and toys stolen.

AUTO THEFT
There were 9 stolen vehicles in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
 
  THEFT
There were 12 incidents reported in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
4 reports of stolen catalytic converters and 4 reports of stolen license plates.
 
8/15 to 8/19  23800 Block Cabrillo Ave  Battery and propane tank stolen from trailer.

Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
