Proposed Site for Homelessness Housing in Torrance

The Torrance City Council on Tuesday, June 22nd at 7 PM will consider a recommendation of the City Manager that City Council approve the Torrance Civic Center grounds to be a site for temporary housing for people experiencing homelessness and authorize staff to continue discussion with the County of Los Angeles in developing the program and securing funding sources for capital and operating expenses. You can participate before the meeting by emailing CouncilMeetingPublicComment@TorranceCA.Gov and write (Public Comment) in the subject line. In the body of the email include the item number and/or title of the item with your comments. All comments emailed by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 will be included as a (Supplemental) on the City’s website prior to the meeting. Comments received after 2 p.m., but prior to the end of the meeting will be added to the record. You can also participate during the meeting by calling 310-618-2404. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance and windows were smashed in 3 vehicles for entry. Items stolen included a wallet, speaker, cash, sunglasses, a key, backpacks, clothes, tablet
