Los Angeles Councilmember Hahn's Comments on the "Black Smoke Cloud" in the Harbor Area Today

Subject: Councilwoman Janice Hahn issues statement on today's flare event at ConocoPhillips

Dear Community Members,

Today ConocoPhillips refinery experienced a LADWP power outage that caused a
large flare of black smoke as a result of the burn off.

Councilwoman Janice Hahn is very concerned about this event and wants to
reassure residents that a full investigation will be taking place.

She stated: "This has happened before and I thought we had resolved the issue.
I have asked LADWP and AQMD for a complete investigation into the cause of the
power outage."

We will keep you posted of the findings of this investigation.
