Community: Package Thieves Apprehended
After several months, Torrance Police Detectives completed an in-depth follow-up investigation on two individuals suspected of stealing packages from doorsteps. Commonly referred to as “Porch Pirates”, investigators initially traced these suspects to a theft from a vehicle back in December of 2017.  The suspects removed the victim’s credit card from the vehicle then made a fraudulent purchase.

During this lengthy investigation, Detectives viewed surveillance footage from several package thefts and discovered the suspects to be the same individuals who completed the fraudulent purchase.

Detectives identified multiple victims (particularly in the southeast region of the city), reviewed hours of surveillance footage, and partnered with the community to help identify the suspects.

The Torrance Police Department is grateful for another opportunity to collaborate with the communi ty resulting in the apprehension of those involved in criminal activity.  The Torrance Police Department continues to encourage its residents to report all suspicious activity.  "See Something, Say Something.”

This investigation was conducted under the command and direction of Torrance Police Captain Martin Vukotic of the Special Operations Bureau.  Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Torrance Police Department at (310) 328-3456.
