Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance and Torrance Police Presence in SE Torrance Tonight


This report is for Sunday, September 13, 2015 through Saturday, September 19,2015.
A total of 49 incidents in Torrance were reported to the Police Department.
 
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
There were 9 in Torrance.
1 in Southeast Torrance, 1 in Hollywood Riviera, 1 in Madrona, 1 in Walteria, 1 in West Torrance
2 in North Torrance and 2 in Old Torrance.

Suspect removed window screen but failed to gain entry.  Suspect forced open locked shed and took tools.
 
AUTO BURGLARY
There were 5 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
 
AUTO THEFT
There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
 
THEFT
There were 5 bicycles stolen in Torrance.

Rancho Palos Verdes Traffic Stop Leads to Suspect Mail Thieves
The Daily Breeze reported on 9 24 15 that Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies arrested two women suspected
of stealing mail from at least 20 victims in the South Bay.  A deputy pulled over their U-Haul rental van for a
traffic stop and found several pieces of stolen mail  along with makeshift devices used to fish mail out of postal
boxes.
 
POLICE ACTIVITY IN SOUTHEAST TORRANCE
At approximately 5:30PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015, Torrance Police began a sizeable operation of at least 9 police units in the 1800 Block of 235th Street in Southeast Torrance.  Earlier this year, a neighborhood meeting was held with about 50 Southeast Torrance residents asking Torrance Police for their assistance in resolving unscrupulous activity in a house on the block.  Unconfirmed reports from neighbors indicate at least one individual was arrested on a drug charge and as many as 10 other individuals were detained outside the residence tonight.
