The Long Beach Airport will be host to one of its regular visitors this weekend, when U.S. Marine Corps FA-18 aircraft are scheduled to conduct daily operations, Long Beach officials announced.
The aircraft are set to land at 2:00PM on Thursday, September 3, and conduct daily operations throughout the Labor Day weekend, according to a press release.
The public is invited to meet the pilots during a meet-and-greet scheduled from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday, September 5, at Signature Flight Support, 3333 East Spring Street, Long Beach.
The FA-18 aircraft can be louder than other aircraft and are easily heard in neighborhoods near Long Beach Airport.
Officials said the aircraft will use noise abatement procedures when operating near Long Beach, including modified arrival and departure flight profiles and minimum use of afterburners.
The aircraft are scheduled to depart on Monday, September 7 at 4:00PM.
