RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
There were 2 in the Hollywood Riviera.
 
8-2 to 8-4 2019   5600 Block Calle De Arboles  Suspect pried open door, ransacked, no loss.
8-2 to 8-6 2019   600 Block Paseo De La Playa  Suspect used porch hide-a-key to enter residence
and lived there, consuming sodas, beer and food while victims were on vacation.
 
The Torrance Police Department offers Vacation Security Checks to all Torrance residents.  While you are away on vacation, officers from the Torrance Police Department will periodically stop by your home to check for open doors, broken windows or any other suspicious circumstances.
 
AUTO BURGLARIES
There were 10 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
 
AUTO THEFT
There were 5 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
 
7-29 9PM to 7-30 1 AM  2000 Block Sepulveda Blvd  Stolen 2005 Chevy Van
 
THEFT
There were 8 incidents in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
 
8-2 9PM to 8-3 11 AM     23600 Block Cabrillo Av
License plate stolen from parked vehicle.
 
Another stolen purse, in the parking lot, at Sam’s Club.
7-30  1:45PM  Suspect took victim’s purse out of her shopping cart as she was loading groceries in her vehicle. 
 
ARSON
1 incident in Torrance and it was in Southeast Torrance.
7-29   2:08PM  23800 Pennsylvania Ave    Suspect set fire to newspaper that burned a wall.
 
ROBBERY/WEAPON
1 incident in Torrance and it was in Southeast Torrance.
8-1  12:35AM   1900 Block 235th Place  Suspect demanded victim’s cellphone at gunpoint.
 
BATTERY/WEAPON/AGG
8-3  9:42 PM   21300 Hawthorne Blvd  Suspects flee restaurant without paying their high dollar bill
and accelerate their vehicle at victim when he attempts to obtain their license plate.

Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling for Torrance Residents Only

City of Torrance Public Works is holding an Earth Day recycling event for free paper shredding and electronics recycling. Saturday, August 21, 2021 8 a.m. - noon Torrance City Hall East Employee Parking Lot (near Torrance Courthouse off Maple Avenue) The Recycling Event is for TORRANCE RESIDENTS ONLY.
