Suspect in String of RPV Burglaries Arrested
A San Pedro man was taken into custody by Lomita Station deputies shortly before midnight on Monday, February 12, 2018. During a traffic stop on Western Avenue, deputies located evidence linking the man to a rash of vehicle and residential garage burglaries that occurred over the weekend.
Sammy Burchett, 50, was arrested by deputies. Home video surveillance footage provided by several residents was instrumental in linking Burch
ett to the crimes. Some of the footage shows a man prowling on the front porch of a residence early Monday. Our residents networked with their neighbors and immediately reported the activity to Lomita Station. Deputies canvased neighborhoods in Rancho Palos Verdes throughout the morning, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Search warrants were served at a residences in San Pedro and Rancho Palos Verdes, where evidence was recovered. Burchett was booked at Lomita Station in lieu of $50,000.00 bail on charges of Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Firearm in Conjunction with a Controlled Substance.
