Weekly Crime Report 4 21 19 to 4 27 19 and 4 Fatal Traffic Accidents in Torrance



4 FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN TORRANCE IN APRIL 2019   
 
The Torrance Community and Police Department were impacted by 4 fatal traffic collisions in the month of April.
In response, the Torrance Police Department will increase efforts to address traffic safety concerns.
The Torrance Police Department encourages everyone in our community to join our efforts by driving safely.
 
 An HVE (High Visibility Enforcement) operation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2019 between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
 
Torrance Police Motor Officers will devote their time balancing traffic enforcement and education on the major thoroughfares within the city.

This report is for Sunday, April 21, 2019 through Saturday, April 27, 2019.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
There were 4 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
2 in the Madrona area, 1 in West Torrance and 1 in Old Torrance.
 
Again this week, garage remotes have been removed from parked vehicles
to gain access to residences. The incident in West Torrance involved a residence
being tented for fumigation.  The house was ransacked with unknown property loss.
 
4/27/19  1 to 1:50 AM                       2900 Maricopa St  Garage remote taken out of unlocked
vehicle, garage opened and bicycles stolen.
4/26/19 10 PM to 4/27/19 7 AM      2700 Maricopa St  Garage and gate remotes removed from
unlocked vehicle.  Garage door opened and sunglasses and third remote taken from vehicle
parked in the garage.
 
AUTO BURGLARY
There were 2 incidents in Torrance.  1 in the Madrona area and 1 in Southeast Torrance.
 
4 23 19  7:30PM to 4 24 19  7:30AM  1900 Block Middlebrook (Walnut)
Unsecured vehicle with laptop and laptop bag stolen.
 
AUTO THEFT
There was 1 incident in Old Torrance.
 
THEFT
There were 8 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
No reports of porch piracy.

Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling for Torrance Residents Only

City of Torrance Public Works is holding an Earth Day recycling event for free paper shredding and electronics recycling. Saturday, August 21, 2021 8 a.m. - noon Torrance City Hall East Employee Parking Lot (near Torrance Courthouse off Maple Avenue) The Recycling Event is for TORRANCE RESIDENTS ONLY.
