Weekly Crime Report 11 29 to 12 05, 2020

This report is for Sunday, November 29, 2020 through Saturday, December 5, 2020. There are 48 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=62591 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 2 in Torrance. 1 in Country Hills and 1 in Southwood Riviera. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 12 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Entry made in 5 vehicles by unknown means, 4 vehicles were unlocked, 2 vehicles had door locks pried and 1 vehicle a window was smashed for entry. Items stolen included: storage container, gym bag, sunglasses, bag, wallet, US Mail, purse, storage bin, pictures, video games, clothes, EDD card, blank checks, clothes, debit card, key, vehicle registration, AAA card, another purse, cash and insurance paperwork. On November 30, 2020 between 3:30 and 3:45 PM, in the 200 Block of Via Riviera, a US Mail truck was unlocked by unknown means and US mail and parcels were stolen. AUTO THEFT There were 10 stolen vehicles in Torrance and 2 were in Southeast Torrance. 11/30/2020 Pennsylvania Ave and Sepulveda Blvd 01 BMW 325i stolen 12/1 to 12/4 23600 Cabrillo Avenue 2005 Chevrolet Silverado stolen THEFT There were 12 incident in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 3 delivered parcels were stolen in North Torrance and 2 in the Hollywood Riviera. Catalytic converters were removed from 3 vehicles in Old Torrance, North Torrance and Southwood Riviera. Several SETHA members have asked how many vacancies are there in the Police Department. Currently, the TPD has 24 Police Officer vacancies, with numerous additional vacancies anticipated between now and 2021. The vacancies have been caused by retirements and the overall difficulty in hiring qualified individuals to serve as Police Officers. Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling for Torrance Residents Only

City of Torrance Public Works is holding an Earth Day recycling event for free paper shredding and electronics recycling. Saturday, August 21, 2021 8 a.m. - noon Torrance City Hall East Employee Parking Lot (near Torrance Courthouse off Maple Avenue) The Recycling Event is for TORRANCE RESIDENTS ONLY.
