This report is for Sunday, September 6, 2020 through Saturday, September 12,2020. 41 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=61624 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES 1 in North Torrance. Bicycle stolen from unlocked garage. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 17 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 6 vehicles were unlocked and entry into 7 vehicles by unknown means. Items stolen included tools, cash, bank cards, coin purses, sunglasses, more tools, garage remote, ice chest, sodas, more sunglasses, clothes, shoes, jewelry, wallet, radar detector, chargers, laptops, wallet, checkbook, hard drive, car registration, more cash, ID, keys, tablet, more registration papers, insurance, manual, backpack, laptop, hard drives, memory cards, tablet, and more tools. The hours between 7 pm and 6 am account for the majority of vehicle burglaries in apartment complexes and single-family resident neighborhoods according to Torrance Police. AUTO THEFT 9 vehicles stolen in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Two Ford F350 pickups were taken. THEFT There were 8 incidents in Torrance including 1 in Southeast Torrance. 5 catalytic converters were stolen including 1 in the 23300 Block of Falena Av in Southeast Torrance. 3 bicycles were stolen this week. TRAFFIC In 2019, the City of Torrance had 1,974 traffic collisions. Of those, 1,349 were non-injury collisions and 616 were injury collisions, which resulted in 848 victims being injured. Torrance experienced a decrease in fatal traffic collisions in 2019, going from 12 fatal traffic collisions resulting in 12 deaths in 2018 to 9 fatal traffic collisions resulting in 9 deaths in 2019. 1 of the fatalities involved a pedestrian where the driver fled the location and was never located. 3 involved one of the drivers being under the influence of drugs and 1 fatality involved a driver under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.
