Weekly Crime Report for 8/23 to 8/29 and Update on Hof's Hut

This report is for Sunday, August 23, 2020 through Saturday, August 29, 2020. 36 incidents in the Torrance Police Department Weekly Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showdocument?id=61516 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 4 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in Old Torrance and 2 in North Torrance. A pet dog was taken from a home in North Torrance. AUTO BURGLARIES There were 9 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. 8/28 8PM to 8/29 10AM 2300 229th St Suspect entered unlocked vehicle and took cash, charger, multi-tool and sunglasses. 2 vehicles were unlocked. AUTO THEFT 12 vehicles were stolen in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. THEFT There were 3 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles and multiple mailboxes were opened in the 17500 Block of Van Ness Avenue. VANDALISM There were 5 incidents in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. Multiple windows were smashed in a parked vehicle, a window in a business was smashed, spray paint was used to graffiti a staircase and sign, trees were cut and a billboard was tagged with spray paint. Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling for Torrance Residents Only

City of Torrance Public Works is holding an Earth Day recycling event for free paper shredding and electronics recycling. Saturday, August 21, 2021 8 a.m. - noon Torrance City Hall East Employee Parking Lot (near Torrance Courthouse off Maple Avenue) The Recycling Event is for TORRANCE RESIDENTS ONLY.
