The Torrance Police Department has seen a sharp increase in thefts of tailgates from pickup trucks. Most of the thefts have occurred from Toyota, Dodge, and Chevy products; however, all tailgates are at risk. There are simple locks that can be purchased from auto part stores that can help deter the thief. Placing these locks on the tailgate will require thieves to bring tools and this may deter them from taking the tailgate. Consumers can also buy an aftermarket handle with a lock, or a lock that secures over the side pin to prevent the tailgate removal. These products can range from $20-$200.
AUTO THEFT
There were 7 vehicles stolen in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.
COSTCO
The new Costco Store in Torrance scheduled for opening in December 2015 has
been delayed due to “soil mitigation measures”.
Anticipated opening of the new store is April of 2016.
