Torrance Police Arrest Suspect in Residential and Auto Burglaries

On October 21st 2014, Detectives from the Torrance Police Department served a Search Warrant at a hotel room at the “Ramada Limited” in the city of Redondo Beach. The Search Warrant was the culmination of a multifaceted criminal investigation involving Suspect Joshua Pitts, and his involvement in numerous burglaries and thefts throughout the South Bay.

A large amount of stolen property, which had been stolen during numerous residential “fumigation” burglaries and auto burglaries, was seized from Pitts’ hotel room, as well as a sizeable quantity of narcotics.
Pitts’ connection to additional burglaries and thefts throughout the South Bay is still being investigated. At this time, Pitts has been charged with three separate counts of residential burglary, related to three residential “fumigation” burglaries that occurred in the city of Torrance; one count of attempted vehicle theft, and two counts of possession of stolen property related to crimes that occurred in surrounding South Bay cities. Pitts was on probation and out on bail from a prior arrest while committing these crimes. Pitts’ bail has been set at $230,000.

This incident is being investigated under the command and direction of Captain Rod Irvine of the Special Operations Bureau. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Torrance Police Department Detective Division at (310) 618-5570.
