TUSD Pools to be built at Shery Continuation High

Shery Continuation High selected as site of Torrance Unified aquatic center

The Shery Continuation High School campus south of Wilson Park will become the site of Torrance Unified School District’s $15 million high school aquatic center.
District officials selected the Crenshaw Boulevard site from among four contenders at a Tuesday night meeting.
“I think it was the best site, but we owed it to the community that we looked at all available sites,” said Don Lee, school board president.
Officials hope to break ground on the 66,000-square-foot competitive swimming venue about a year from now. Construction is expected to take 12 months.

The state-of-the-art facility — which be shared by the four high schools — will likely include two pools, seating for about 500 spectators and an outdoor plaza with concession area.
The high school campus, which also houses the Southern California Regional Occupation Center, will lose a ball field when the facility is built.
