  South Coast AQMD and City of Torrance Meeting on the ExxonMobil Refinery. 01/26/16    City of Torrance   staff met with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director of South Coast AQMD last week to discuss the study of alternative catalysts for HF alkylation units.  Upon further discussion and reflection, AQMD has determined that the study should be fully conducted and funded by AQMD, with briefings to the City as the study progresses. The study will specifically address researching and evaluating catalyst options, and commercially available alternatives to MHF, and include -  Sulfuric Acid - MHF - Solid Acid Catalyst - Ionic Liquid - Fixed Bed - Slurry catalyst - Soluble catalyst and - Solid Onium hydrogen fluoride catalyst The evaluation will include, at a minimum the following: - Efficiency and effectiveness - Commercial availability - If used in other installations - Chemical hazard - Dispersion ...

This report is for Sunday, January 3, 2016 through Saturday, January 9,2016. 61 incidents were reported to Torrance Police during the period.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 8 in Torrance. 3 in Southeast Torrance, 2 in Marble Estates, and 1 each in Seaside Ranchos, West, and Victor Park area.   Tuesday, January 5th,  9:30 AM to 1 PM, 23100 Block Huber Avenue Suspect entered unlocked door, heavily ransacked and took cash, tablets, MP3 and jewelry.   Friday, January 8th, 11:30 AM to 12:30PM, 23400 Block Walnut St* Suspect removed screen on open window for entry/no loss.   Friday, January 8th, 10: AM to 11:40 AM, 1800 Block Middlebrook Road* Suspect pried off window screen, attempted to pry open window and pry open sliding glass door/no entry/no loss. *3 of 4 suspects arrested in the January 8th incidents. Friday, January 8, 2016 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM 23400 Block Walnut St  Torrance   An attempt was made to gain entry to the residence through a side window visible from the street.  The window screen was removed but no entry was made.  The dog in the house raised a ruckus.   Torrance Police are looking for a blue Lexus 4 door sedan with three or four black males.    If you have any information, please contact Torrance Police at 310-328-3456.
