Rate Change in Refuse Collection Services

The Torrance City Council voted last night to expand the green recycling program to the entire city. . Effective, February 1, 2012, the collection rates will increase by $2.50 per month if you have the large black 94 gallon refuse container.  If you downsize to the smaller black 64 gallon refuse container, the monthly increase will be $1.50 per month. Residential Refuse Rates The rates for the Sanitation Services Fee will be as follows as of February 1, 2012: Standard Service - $25.08 per month 64 gallon refuse container 96 gallon recycling container 96 gallon green waste recycling container Optional Service - $26.08 per month 96 gallon refuse container 96 gallon recycling container 96 gallon green waste recycling container These are suggested service levels.  The rate is tied to the size of the refuse container.  Residents can choose different sizes of recycling and green waste recycling containers and it will not affect their monthly rates.  All co...

  SoCalGas Warns Customers About Potential Payment Scam LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) is warning customers to be aware of an ongoing wire fraud that could potentially reach SoCalGas customers. The fraudulent activity has been reported on the East Coast and at this time there are no indications that SoCalGas customers have been targeted. Utilities on the East Coast have reported that individuals misrepresenting themselves as utility employees are calling customers and threatening to turn off electric and gas service if payment is not made to them that day. January 8, 2012, 7PM - January 9, 2012 6AM  Auto Burglary  1900 Block Reynosa Drive (Walnut St) Suspect punched door lock for entry.  Vehicle ransacked with wallet and property stolen. January 12, 2012 10PM - January 13, 2012 10AM Commercial Burglary  Pennsylvania & Sepulveda Suspect entered unlocked laundry room and used torch in an attempt to take cash from dryer coin box. No entry, no loss. There were 4 Auto Burglary incidents in the 3400, 3500, 3700 blocks of 225th, 226th and 227th Streets on Thursday, January 12th in which the suspect(s) pried the door handle for entry and took the third row seats from the four vehicles.  This area is west of Crenshaw Blvd and not in the SETHA area.  John Bailey, President SETHA
