Nothing to report for the week of February 26 to March 3, 2012 237th Street and Crenshaw Blvd - IMPORTANT NOTICE On Saturday, March 10th, the City of Torrance will be replacing the wiring in the traffic signals at this intersection.  The signals will be turned off and stop signs will be used to control traffic.   The intersection will need to be closed completely from approximately noon until 2PM.

2/19/12 8PM - 2/20/12 7AM  Auto Burglary  2400 Block 227th St (Pennsylvania) Suspect(s) smashed window for entry and took property/tool bag, wrenches, ratches, sockets. 2/21/12 5PM - 2/22/12 10AM Auto Burglary 2400 Block 227th St (Pennsylvania) Suspect(s) smashed window for entry and took property/stero, subwoofers, amplifiers. 2/19/12 11:30AM  Commercial Burglary       2200 Block Sepulveda Blvd (Arlington) Suspect cut lock on storage container for entry and took property/clothing, shoes, CD's. 2/22/12 6PM     Simple Battery     Sepulveda Blvd and Crenshaw Blvd, Suspect used a golf club to poke the victim in the back. 2/25/12 2PM - 2/26/12 12PM  Vandalism  2300 Block 230th St (Arlington - Pennsylvania) Suspect(s) smashed window.  No entry, no loss.

An increase in crime in the SETHA membership area this past week. Residential Burglary   2/16/2012 9AM  1900 235th Place (Walnut)  Suspect(s) kicked in door but fleed when confronted by the victim inside the residence. Strong Arm Robbery  2/18/2012  1:51PM  Sur La Brea Park   Suspect rode up on a skateboard, punched victim in the head causing victim to fall to the ground whee the suspect continued to repeatedly punch the victim in the head and chest before demanding the victim's property, cash and marijuana pipe. February 7, 2012 4:48AM 2000 Block 236th Place (Cabrillo) West of Sur La Brea Park   Suspect(s) entered unlocked vehicle and took property/purse, case CD's, apron, box cutter and cash. During this reporting period, there were eleven auto burglaries in Torrance. More than half of the vehicles were unlocked. Torrance Police offer the following advice: To avoid becoming a victim of an auto theft; always make sure that your vehicle doors are locked when your vehicle is parked.  To lessen your chances of becoming a victim of a burglary, know that there are two basic criteria that vehicle burglars look for prior to committing a theft.  First, they want a good "score."  In other words, they want to steal money or steal an object that they can easily sell.  Second, they want the easiest target with the lowest risk.  For example, a purse that has been left on the front seat of a car is an easy target that a thief can quickly steal.  Th...

This fraud has occurred off and on for many years in different parts of the country. This notice has been shared with the public by the LASD and the news media many times over the past few years.
