This report is for Sunday, December 17, 2017 through Saturday, December 23, 2017 with an increase in reported incidents in Southeast Torrance. 56 incidents were reported during the week in Torrance.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 8 in Torrance.  2 were in  Southeast Torrance  and in North Torrance. 1 each in Old Torrance, Walteria, West and Seaside areas.   12/21/17  3 AM to 4 AM  23700 Block Western Ave (Knoll’s Mobil Home Park)  No entry, no loss.   12/17/17 11 AM to 12/18/17 8:20 PM  1900 Block 232nd St (Walnut-Cabrillo) Window screen removed, window forced open and property ransacked. There were 44 entries in the log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY There was one on Saturday, December 16th between 10 AM and 1:15PM, in the 16600 Block of Van Ness Avenue.  Suspect  pried open rear door for entry and entered garage. Firearm, safe, cash, keys, paperwork and 2004 Lexus ES330 were stolen.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 12 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance.  12/13/2017  10 AM to 11 AM  23600 Block Arlington Avenue Suspect entered unlocked vehicle and took wallet.   Items taken from the 12 vehicles included laptop, dash camera, purse, cash, credit cards, sunglasses, makeup, backpack, wallet, passport, watches, air compressor, knife, headphones, clothes, more sunglasses, another wallet, ladder, tools, wire, garage door opener, keys, another laptop and a vehicle battery.   AUTO THEFT There were 7 stolen vehicles ...

    This report is for Sunday, December 3, 2017 through Saturday, December 9, 2017. 56 items are listed in the log.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance.  1 each in North, Seaside, and the Hillside area,.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 14 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  4 vehicles were unlocked and windows were smashed in 7 vehicles for entry.   Items stolen included cosmetics, wallet (2), generator, external hard drives, stereo, cash (4) purse, shoes, jewelry, CD, tools, registration, insurance papers, keys, lingerie, text books, binders, gloves, phone mount, phone charger, yoga bag and mat, towel and keys.   THEFT INCLUDING PORCH PIRATES There were 8 incidents and none in Southeast Torrance.  A delivered parcel was taken from a porch in the 23200 Block of Elm Avenue.   Torrance Police Department Monday December 11th, 2017 :: 02:23 p.m. PST Community Package Thief Apprehended On Thursday, 07 December 2017, undercover Torrance Police Detectives resumed covert surveillance on a subject suspected of stealing packages from doorsteps.  Commonly referred to as “Porch Pirates”, investigators began working on a tip provided by a person victimized late October of this year. The victim, who lost a package from their own doorstep, provided officers with a possible vehicle to follow. During Thursday afternoon, investigators observed Justin Dabu casing residential areas in his vehicle.  During that time, he walked up to a residence located in the 3400 block of 227th Street and ultimately stole a package.  Investigators arrested him and conducted a probation search of his residence where additional stolen property was recovered.   Numerous cases were solved at the conclusion of the investigation, to...

  TORRANCE PLANNING COMMISSION The agenda includes a petition of Hof’s Hut Restaurant, Inc., 23635 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance CA to allow an on-sale general alcohol liquor license.  The Commission will meet on December 6th at 7PM in the City Council Chambers to consider the application.   WEEKLY CRIME REPORT   Residential Burglaries There were 4 in North Torrance.  Sliding glass doors were smashed for entry in two homes.   Auto Burglaries There were 18 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.  On Wednesday, November 22nd, windows were smashed in three vehicles in the 24500 Block of Hawthorne Blvd (Newton).   Items stolen from the vehicles included laptop (2) , wallet (3), back pack, shoes, purse (2), coat (2), MP3, cell phone, cash (2), bank card, medication, sports attire, eyeglasses, jacket, and drone.   Auto Theft There were 3 in Torrance and 1 in Southeast Torrance. 11/21/17 to 11/24/17 ...
