Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

  This report is for Sunday, November 17, 2013 through Saturday, November 23, 2013   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 7 residential burglaries in Torrance and none reported in Southeast Torrance. 5 were in North Torrance and 2 in the Riviera area.  At the 4900 Block Newton Avenue incident, suspect posed as a landscape worker and distracted the victims in the backyard while another suspect entered the residence and took jewelry & cash.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 6 automobile burglaries in Torrance and one in Southeast Torrance.   Monday, November, 18th  2:30AM to 10:30 AM  1700 Block Sepulveda Blvd (Western Avenue) Suspect punched door lock and took stereo.   AUTO THEFT 7 vehicles were stolen in Torrance and one was in Southeast Torrance. Santa Float Schedule for Southeast Torrance December 4th and 5th

  The Torrance Police Officers’ Association Santa Float schedule for Southeast Torrance   Wednesday, December 4th        Sepulveda Blvd to 239th Street, Crenshaw Blvd to Arlington Avenue   Thursday, December 5th            Sepulveda Blvd to 242nd Street, Arlington Avenue to Western Blvd.   The float leaves the Torrance Police Station at 5PM on these two nights.

This report is for Sunday, November 10, 2013 through Friday, November 15, 2013   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 6 residential burglaries in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in North Torrance and 1 each in Torrance Heights, Riveria, Seaside and Palo del Amo.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 10 auto burglaries in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   MISC.     Nov 20 at 5:44 PM Distraction burglars targeting elderly Torrance residents By Larry Altman , Daily Breeze Posted: 11/20/13, 4:27 PM PST | Teams of thieves are targeting elderly residents in Torrance, distracting them with stories about needing to do work outside their homes, then slipping inside and stealing their jewelry, police said Wednesday. Five crimes have been reported since September in the city, including one on Monday in the 4900 block of Newton Street. “We might be looking at a couple crews here on this,” Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said. On Monday, an elderly couple told police a man approached their home and said he was going to be working on the water system on a hill that backed up to their house. He asked for access to their rear yard. While the husband and wife took him into the yard, someone entered their house and took $6,000 worth of jewelry, Watt said. This report is for Sunday, October 27, 2013 through Saturday, November 2, 2013   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 9 residential burglaries in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. One each in the Riveria, Hillside and Olde Torrance. Two each in North, Southwood and Madrona areas.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 20 auto burglaries in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. There were 3 at Del Amo Mall.   AUTO THEFT There were 9 stolen vehicles and 4 in Southeast Torrance.
