Torrance Police Santa Claus Float is Coming to Southeast Torrance

 Santa Claus will be making his way again through Southeast Torrance on the following dates: Tuesday, November 27, 2012  Sepulveda to 239th St, Crenshaw Blvd to Arlington Wednesday, November 28, 2012, Sepulveda to 242nd St, Arlington to Western Avenue Santa's float will leave the Torrance Police Station at 5PM on both days. In case of rain or other circumstances, Santa's route will be rescheduled after December 16th. Santa's Route for 11 27 12 Tuesday      Santa's Route for 11 28 12 Wednesday  

Meeting on Proposed 65 foot Cell Phone Tower at Sur La Brea Park

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 7PM Sur La Break Park Meeting Room 23610 Cabrillo Avenue Torrance CA  90510 Subject:  Meeting to discuss a proposal from Verizon Wireless for a cellular tower in the middle of Sur La Brea Park and outdoor equipment with backup generator in an above ground vault within the vicinity of the meeting room at Sur La Brea Park.  Representatives of Verizon Wireless will be present at the meeting.

THEFT  11/6/2012  4:26PM  2100 Block 237th St (Cabrillo - Arlington) Suspect(s) took delivered parcel from porch.

This report is for Sunday, October 28, 2012 through Saturday, November 3, 2012 Residential Burglaries      None reported. Robbery - Weapon  Friday, November 2, 2012 8:11PM Sur La Brea Park 236th and Cabrillo                                    Suspects approached pedestrian victims, held a handgun to one victim's head                                    and demanded their property/cell phones. Note:  A previous weapon robbery was reported at the same location in the previous week on October 26th. 

65 Foot Cell Phone Tower Proposal Stalled

 Recap of the Torrance Parks and Recreation Commission to approve a lease at Sur La Brea Park for a 65 foot cell phone tower and equipment building. The Parks and Recreation Commission did not agree with the recommendation of the City Manager that they concur in a proposal to locate a cellular site and 65 foot cell phone tower at Sur La Brea Park. Brian Sunshine, Assistant to the City Manager, explained the project at the beginning of the meeting indicating that the equipment building would be built adjacent to the restrooms. However, the one slide shown during the meeting showed the equipment building would be on the east end of the meeting building. Earlier in the week we surveyed the park and estimated the area is about 800 square feet of useable, flat park area. The loss of that useable park space is not acceptable.  Log for Sunday, October, 21, 2012 through Saturday, October 27,2012 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY    Tuesday, October 23rd, 8:50AM to 1PM 2300 Block 238th Street (Allena - Lucille) Suspect(s) entered residence by unknown means, ransacked and took property/ laptops, iTouch, DS, cash. ROBBERY - WEAPON   Friday, October 26th 7:35PM Sur La Brea Park Suspects approached victim and forcibly took property from her possession before taking unattended property from the basketball court and threatening to fight with and shoot victims when they attempted to retrieve their property/cell phone, backpack, and purse.
